Pies at Home

Thanks for stopping by our table or ordering a custom box! Let's dive into all you need to know about how to store and reheat your pies for maximum enjoyment.

If you purchased a single crust pie you'll know because there is only pie crust on the bottom and sides of your pie and it comes in a disposable aluminum tin. If you purchased a double crust pie you'll know because the filling will be entirely encased in pie crust and there will be a venting slit on top.

To store your pie: Place the entire pie, including the tin if there is one, in an airtight container or resealable bag. Store in the refrigerator for up to 7 days. If you want to keep the pies for longer storage, do so only in the freezer. Frozen pies will last up to 2 months and should be reheated directly from frozen, do not thaw before reheating.

To reheat your pie (from room temp or frozen): Place the entire pie, in the tin if there is one, in a cold oven on a cookie sheet or sheet pan. After the pie is in the oven, turn the oven on to 350 degrees. Once the oven is preheated, your pie should be ready to eat. Check that the pie is thoroughly warmed through before consuming. You can also use the air fryer at 350 degrees and fry until the pie is thoroughly warmed. Microwave is not a recommended method for reheating.

PLEASE NOTE: There are circumstances in which you SHOULD NOT store your pie in the freezer and CANNOT reheat your pie. This is the case with ANY pie that has cornstarch in it (check the label on the bag your pie came in or on the "In Your Box" card in your custom pie box to see if there is cornstarch in it). Cornstarch does not reheat well from frozen, the pie filling has a chance of becoming grainy and/or separating (ew). You should also not store your pie in the freezer/reheat it if it is a single crust pie with a creamy filling that was held at room temperature/cold. For example, ricotta, custard, and chocolate mousse fillings should not be frozen or heated.
